Allegra Women's Choir & special guest, Buckingham String Quartet

FROM THE HEART, Enjoy the lush sounds of the Allegra Women's Choir in the beautiful acoustic setting of the YWCA Ballroom for our spring program featuring songs of love, loss, and devotion. The familiar melodies of Danny Boy and Scarborough Fair will be heard as well as new compositions by leading choral composers, Ola Gjeilo, Edward Fissinger, Stephen Hatfield and John Rutter.

The Buckingham String Quartet will perform a set on their own and join the choir for several pieces.

Female Artists for Music Education ~ Saturday, June 2, 2012

Mark your calendars and join Bellingham Sings when we host a benefit concert showcasing local female musicians plus a silent auction featuring the work of Whatcom County women artists on Saturday, June 2, 2012, from 7:30-9:30pm at The Amadeus Project. Performers donating their time and talents include vocalists: Cheryl Jewell, Amber Darland Cheryl Hodge, Sarah Goodin, Julianne Thoma, pianist Andrea Rackl and more.

Proceeds from this exciting evening will be divided between Bellingham Sings and The Amadeus Project to provide increased opportunities for continued music education here in Whatcom County.

Adult Solo Improvisation Scat Singing Workshop

Location: BAAY Studio, 1059 N. State Street, Bellingham, WA
Tuition: $165, if paid before June 1st/$195 after June 1st (Music is included)

This five day intensive solo-singing workshop will focus on improvisational and scat singing skills with the Northwest’s best performers/teachers and masters of scat: Greta Matassa, Jennifer Scott, Cheryl Hodge, Frank DeMiero, guitarist John Stowell, and more!

Ann MacDonald will lead the vocal technique sessions at the beginning of each evening, followed by a session with one of the guest artists, who will share their substantial knowledge and experience in scat-singing/improvisation. The Jazz repertoire will be pre-selected by our guest instructors. Participants will have the opportunity to perform both in class and in an informal recital on Friday night. Enrollment in this exciting summer workshop is limited, so register early!

Summer Group Voice Workshops at BAAY

Come experience the passion and fun of these highly informative and hands-on group vocal sessions with Ann MacDonald. Repertoire will be provided and each singer will have the opportunity to perform in class and also during the informal recital.

Youth Vocal Workshop

Ages 9-14 years
Dates: June 25-29, 2012
Times: Monday-Friday 4:30pm-5:30pm
